The purpose of Education is to liberate the young minds and empower people. Socrates in ancient Greece spoke about the role of questioning in education. Great visionaries and thinkers from India like Mahatma Gandhi, Vivekananda and Rabindranath Tagore also stressed on the liberating young minds through value based and contemporary education. It is unfortunate to see that in most of the schools in India just the opposite is happening where the students are educated as mass customization model of factory production.

The basic inquisitiveness of the child is suppressed and his thirst for knowing the unknown remains a thirst and there is no focus on quenching the same. Children are not encouraged to question but are asked to follow and be led by the teacher. We at DPS, Janjgir-Champa firmly believe that there is a vital need to drift away from this rote learning model of teaching and be progressive about the way in which we teach our children.

Research on educational practices show that a structured curriculum and innovative teaching pedagogy contributes significantly in development of a child’s mind. Curriculum provides for individual differences, closely coordinate and selectively integrate subject matter, and focus on results and targets for student learning.

We have designed a world class curriculum with the help of experts in the field of curriculum designing. This will help us in making teaching-learning process a joy for the children and interesting for the teachers too.

The Curriculum structure should be such that it is inclusive for the children with diverse abilities and backgrounds, and responsive to emerging issues like environment, conflict resolution, harmony & peace and co-existence. Our curriculum emphasizes on important areas of knowledge, authentic and contextualized problems of study, and problem-solving that stresses skills development as well as knowledge acquisition.

“Let us think of education as the means of developing our greatest abilities, because in each of us there is a private hope and dream which, fulfilled, can be translated into benefit for everyone and greater strength for our nation.”
