India is known as a land of festivals endless celebrations, Dusshehra is one such of festival which is unique in its perception and significance.” Celebrating festivals is an integral part of learning at DPS-JC. Through such celebrations, students not only learn the significance behind the festivals but also they learn to embrace the values of our traditions and cultures.

A special assembly is conducted on each of nine days to get blessings from Goddess Durga’s different forms, which represent the multifaceted aspects of the divine feminine energy. The celebration is a part of our philosophy of ‘Learning by Doing’. Children learn values of honesty, respect, humility and obedience, which are the core of our Indian Epic, The Ramayana.

The Principal of Delhi Public School, Janjgir-Champa, Mrs. Kalpana Singh started the celebration by lighting the lamp and garlanding the image of Goddess Durga. The atmosphere resounded with the chantings of mantras. After it Dandiya and Garba dances were performed by the girls of classes VI to XII in the Assembly ground and the whole ambience got filled with a pious feeling, meanwhile the students of classes I to V showed a small skit on The Ramayana.
